"They want tattoo artists, fire breathers and a near-naked waitstaff. They’re even talking about having pre-rolled joints at the reception."

Nepal woman in record books for climbing Everest twice in same season

A Nepalese woman mountaineer has been recognized by Guinness World Records for climbing Mount Everest twice in the same climbing season.

Nepal's Tourism Minister Posta Bahadur Bogati handed over the certificate issued by Guinness World Records to 29-year-old Chhurim who scaled the 8,850-metre (29,035-foot) summit on May 12, 2012, and again a week later on May 19.

Chhurim, who like most Nepalese Sherpas use only one name, said she plans to climb other high peaks in the future.

Everest has been climbed by nearly 4,000 climbers, but women climbers make only a small portion of that number, according to the Nepal Mountaineering Association.

Chetan Bhagat's son makes movie debut with Kai Po Che!

Kai Po Che! is a special film for Chetan Bhagat not only as an author but also as a father, as his eight-year-old son Ishaan makes his acting debut with the film.
Kai Po Che! is the big screen adaptation of Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of My Lifeand features Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav in prominent roles. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film released Friday.

Oscar 2013:John Travolta and Liam Neeson named Oscar presenters

John Travolta and Liam Neeson have been roped in to present the trophies at this year’s Academy Awards on Sunday.

The Hollywood A-listers were added to the roster along with Melissa McCarthy and Salma Hayek Pinault, News.com.au reported

These four newcomers have joined the previously announced list of Academy Awards participants.

The names already unveiled by the producers include current nominees, last year’s winners and big co-stars from 2012’s top grossing films including Ben Affleck, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, Mark Wahlberg and Robert Downey Jr.

In addition, all of last year’s Oscar winners, including Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer, Octavia Spencer and Meryl Streep, will present trophies to winners.

Big Brother 2013 is set to hit Channel 5 in the summer, with auditions already taking place.This year saw bosses ditch the usual open auditions for the first time in the show’s twelve year history.

Instead, those wishing to become housemates had to upload a video online to impress producers.
The lucky ones were invited to a secret callback in London at the weekend for fun and games as they were whittled down in a process to find just 16 housemates.

And showing that this year’s series could be the biggest yet, 7ft bloke Lydon Sutcliffe was amongst the hopefuls “I want to be the first giant on Big Brother,” he told the Daily Star newspaper today. “I attract the girls because they always ask if my willy is huge too.
“I tell them, ‘If it was in proportion I’d need to be eight foot five’.” It sounds like we can expect the usual from the line up this year, with the likes of an Essex ‘model’ called Amy also at the try outs.

Siblings born just six and Half months apart

A pre-school teache in UK is the proud mom of two kids born six-and-a-half months apart. The kids –a boy and a girl –is all set to enter record books for the closet age gap between siblings in the UK, reported Daily Mail. The 31-year-old Sadie Budden was stunned to learn she was pregnant three weeks after her son Ronnie was born in August 2011.

 However, she and her 38-year-old partner were even more shocked when she delivered daughter Sienna at 26 weeks of her pregnancy. The little girl had difficulty breathing and eating. But three-and-a-half months later, she was healthy and ready to go home.

 The kids are known as ‘Tandem twins’ as they are born within the same nine to ten months.

Tragic country music star Mindy McCready has committed suicide

Tragic country music star Mindy McCready has committed suicide at age 37, one month after the death of her boyfriend led her back into the drug and alcohol abuse that plagued most of her adult life.

McCready shot herself on the porch of her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on Sunday afternoon. 

The final weeks of McCready's life were fraught and tumultuous. Her live-in boyfriend David Wilson was found shot dead in their home on January 13 and police said the case was suspicious. She was forced to take to TV to deny she had played any role in the shooting and called Wilson her 'soul mate.' 

A neighbor said McCready shot her dog before killing herself. She revealed in an interview last month that the dog had found the bullet that killed Wilson.

She told Dateline ABC: 'I didn't find the bullet, the dog did. It was in the dog's mouth.'

Asked if she had killed her boyfriend, McCready responded: 'Oh my God, no. He was my life, we were each other's life.'

Her death came only days after she was released from rehab. A judge had ordered her committed to a mental health facility after she admitted she had been drinking too much. Her father said she was also abusing prescription medication again.

McCready spent just two days in a treatment facility before she was allowed to go home earlier this month.

'She was released because they think she is mentally stable enough, and she was tested for drugs and alcohol and everything came up fine,' a source told E! News. 'Nothing illegal came up.'

'One of the reasons they released her is she didn't have any symptoms of what an alcoholic would have. There were no signs she had a problem to the doctor.'

Meteorites hit Russia, More than thousands injured (watch Video)

A 150-foot-wide rock is making an unusually close pass by Earth. Last morning, a heavy meteor shower rained down on central Russia on Friday, sowing panic as the hurtling space debris smashed windows and injured dozens of stunned locals, officials said.

The gymnasium-sized rock 2012 DA14, 40 or 50 meters (130 to 160 feet) across, is making the closest Earth flyby of a natural object ever predicted well in advance.

It will pass within 28,500 km (18,000 miles) of Earth’s surface at 19:25 Universal Time (11.25am UAE time) tonight, February 15th. It would have then reached 8th magnitude as it whizzes north across the stars at a rate of 0.8° per minute.

According to various reports, at least 1000 people were reportedly ‘injured’ when a meteor streaked across the sky over Russia’s Ural Mountains on Friday morning.

The meteor triggered several big explosions, sending fragments falling to earth. Russian Interior Ministry spokesman said more than 500 people hurt in meteorite fall. 

There are conflicting reports about what actually happened.

Schools in the Urals area of Russia have been ordered to remain shut for the day as a precautionary measure after reports of the impact blowing out windows of buildings and with temperatures plunging in central Russia to -18˚C (0˚F).

A spokeswoman for the Emergency Ministry, Irina Rossius, told The Associated Press that there was a meteor shower, but another ministry spokeswoman, Elena Smirnikh, was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying it was a single meteorite.

Amateur video broadcast on Russian television showed an object speeding across the sky, leaving a thick white contrail and an intense flash.

Russia Today, a news network broadcasting from Moscow and Washington studios, has published this YouTube video showing amateur footage of a bright ball of fire, the meteorite, hitting earth and causing what it says was a series of explosions.

Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working just after the meteor shower.

Harlem Shake, a dance that originated in Harlem in the 1980s, is the latest internet phenomenon that has gone viral.
According to YouTube trends blog: The meme first started gaining traction last week and is attributed to a silly video from a vlogger named "Filthy Frank." Though it was another user named SunnyCoastSkate who then established the form we've become familiar with: the jump cut, the helmet, etc.

Over 12,000Harlem Shakevideos had been posted since the start of the month and they'd already been watched upwards of 44 million times and 4,000 more videos are being uploaded per day, as per YouTube.The Harlem Shake is a dance that originally began in Harlem, New York. Since its beginnings it has spread to other urban areas and became popular in music videos. The modern day Harlem Shake was started by a man by the name of "Al B" (nickname Sisqo or Cisco). Al B was an alcoholic who would perform the dance upon request. Because of its founder, the dance was originally called the "albee" in Rucker and Harlem, but then later became known as the Harlem Shake.

It may not get the billion hits thatGangnam Style got but Harlem Shake looks set to create a record of the number of videos uploaded on a single theme.

Bigg Boss Contestants Karishma Kotak to star opposite Salman Khan

Rumours are rife that model Karishma Kotak, lately seen in TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss 6’, has wangled a prized lead opposite Salman Khan in his brother Sohail Khan`s next production to go on the floors. But Sohail has denied the rumours. "I am quite fed up of the rumours. First the media gives my film titles like `Sher Khan`, then `Radhe`, then `Mental`. Now they`ve even given me a leading lady. There are so many rumours about my film, I`ve given up!" said Sohail. He said the Karishma conection to his film is completely baseless, and added: "I have shortlisted a few leading ladies. I`ll announce the (name of the) girl next week.

Karishma is a half-British, half-Indian a la popular actress Katrina Kaif.

"Perhaps people close to her feel the British-Indian mix of Katrina would work in Karishna Kotak`s favour. We don`t know what she thinks or where the story of being signed for Sohail`s film opposite Salman came from. But the truth is, there`s no truth to it," says a close friend of Salman`s.

In fact at the moment, Sohail`s home production is pushed ahead by a bit. Salman`s dates in 2013 are being worked out for Sohail`s film, Boney Kapoor`s "No Entry Mein Entry" and Sajid Nadiadwala`s "Kick". Leading ladies for all three are on the verge of being locked in.

But Kotak is said to be nowhere in consideration.

To go back a bit, Salman, who hosts "Bigg Boss", was seen to be a little extra kind towards the "soft-and-gentle" Karishma.

"That`s it? That got rumours of her signing his next film going?" Incidentally, Kingfisher model Angela Jonsson was the first choice for Sohail`s film with Salman. She too is apparently not in the reckoning any more.

English Hard Rock Band Deep Purple to Perform in Kathmandu !!!

It is known that English hard rock band  Deep Purple will be performing live in Kathmandu, Nepal on 15th March, 2013. There were some rumors about the gig here in Nepal but now Deep Purple official website has published the date for their world tour and has written Kathmandu Nepal on 3.3.13 (March 15th, 2013).  Here is how they had published it.

JPR Events, the even management group which brought Canadian Pop/Rock Singer Bryan Adams and Pakistani Singer Atif Aslam here in Nepal, is the organizer of this Deep Purple Concert too. And it is also known that the venue of the concert will be at Dasarath Rangashala Stadium which is only stadium that can hold tens of thousands of people. But the JPR events has not even published where can we get the tickets for the concerts and the price too.

 We are  keeping an eye on the places where to buy the tickets and as soon as I know it, I will update it here.So it will be a great time watching the classic Hard rock band Deep Purple playing live in our own city Kathmandu.

Penelope Cruz expecting second child??

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, mother for the first time just over two years ago, could be pregnant again, at least that's what the New York Post asserted Friday in a scoop picked up by People Magazine and Us Weekly. 

The Post cites sources close to the Oscar-winning actress, though when EFE asked her publicists about a possible baby No. 2, they preferred not to commit themselves. Us Weekly also confirmed the news without identifying its sources.

Cruz, 38, and her husband, 43-year-old Spanish actor Javier Bardem, had their first child Leonardo in January 2011. The couple wed in July 2010 in the Bahamas. "That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever," she said in an interview.
