Tragic country music star Mindy
McCready has committed suicide at age 37, one month after the death of her
boyfriend led her back into the drug and alcohol abuse that plagued most of her
adult life.
McCready shot herself on the porch of her home in Heber Springs,
Arkansas, on Sunday afternoon.
The final weeks of McCready's life were fraught and tumultuous.
Her live-in boyfriend David Wilson was found shot dead in their home on January
13 and police said the case was suspicious. She was forced to take to TV to deny she had played any role in
the shooting and called Wilson
her 'soul mate.'
A neighbor said McCready shot her dog before killing herself. She
revealed in an interview last month that the dog had found the bullet that
killed Wilson.
She told Dateline ABC: 'I didn't
find the bullet, the dog did. It was in the dog's mouth.'
Asked if she had killed her boyfriend, McCready responded: 'Oh my
God, no. He was my life, we were each other's life.'
Her death came only days after she was released from rehab. A
judge had ordered her committed to a mental health facility after she admitted
she had been drinking too much. Her father said she was also abusing
prescription medication again.

McCready spent just two days in a treatment facility before she
was allowed to go home earlier this month.
'She was released because they think she is mentally stable
enough, and she was tested for drugs and alcohol and everything came up fine,'
a source told E! News. 'Nothing illegal came up.'
'One of the reasons they released her is she didn't have any
symptoms of what an alcoholic would have. There were no signs she had a problem
to the doctor.'
