Channel 5 bosses are reportedly planning to air a second series of Celebrity Big Brother this summer, just months after the last run finished.
The broadcaster had originally signed a two-year, four series deal with programme makers Endemol in 2011, which included two celebrity series and two ‘normal’ series.
It was reported this morning that Channel 5 are to renew Big Brother for “several” more years, and another Celebrity series in the summer is set to be included in the deal.
The show has proved a big hit for the channel, with last month’s final seeing a peak audience of almost 4 million viewers tune in as Denise Welch was crowned winner.
Plans for a second Celebrity Big Brother this year are still in the early stages, but it’s excepted to follow the main Big Brother 2012 show which starts in May.
“It’s an open secret that Channel 5 have been very pleased with its commercial success as have we,” Big Brother creative director Gavin Henderson said. “I’m sure it will continue.”
Meanwhile auditions for Big Brother 2012 continue today in Manchester , with guest star Kerry Katona.
