Maoist leader and Vice President Dr. Baburam Bhattarai elected as new PrimeMinister Of Nepal


Kathmandu, Aug 28: United Communist Party Nepal  (Maoist) Vice Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been elected the new prime minister on Sunday. Bhattarai is the 35th Prime Minister of Nepal and 4th Minister of republic Nepal.
In the elections held at the House this afternoon, Dr. Bhattarai garnered 340 votes, while his opponent Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Paudel could secure 235 votes only. 575 lawmakers were present in the House today.
Announcing the results, Speaker Subas Chandra Nembang said that Dr. Bhattarai bagged the majority in the present 594-member House to be elected as the new prime minister as per the constitutional provisions and the House regulations

Most of the fringe parties and the alliance of Madhesi parties lent their support to Dr. Bhattarai.
After the results were announced, Paudel congratulated Dr. Bhattarai for his election as the top executive through democratic process. He hoped that the Maoist prime minister will be able to carry out his party’s commitment to accomplish the peace process in 1.5 months.
“Nepali Congress will remain as a positive opposition,” he said, suggesting that his party will work together with the government in the issues of peace process and constitution-drafting. The NC is the second largest party in the House with 113 seats.

Dr. Bhattaai was born to a middle class family of farmers—as the second child of Bhoj Prasad Bhattarai and his wife Dharma Kumari—in Khoplang of Gorkha on June 18, 1954.

He studied at a local school and topped the national-level School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations in 1970. He then came to the Capital Valley for his further studies.

After completing Intermediate in Science from Amrit Science College in Kathmandu, he won a scholarship to study engineering in Chandigarh of India under the Colombo Plan. He completed his Bachelors in Architecture (Hons.) from there in 1977.

In 1979, he got enrolled in the New Delhi-based School of Planning and Architecture for Masters in Town and Country Planning (Hons.) with specialisation in the urban and regional planning.

Bhattarai obtained his PhD degree in Regional Development Planning, from the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

During his stay in India, he became active in political activities and came in contact with Nepali leaders like former Prime Minister B.P. Koirala, Tulsi Lal Amatya and Mohan Bikram Singh among others who were in exile. He was elected the founder president of All India Nepalese Students Association in 1977.

In 1981, he took the membership of the Communist Party of Nepal through Mohan Bikram Singh. Subsequently, he became active in organizing migrant Nepali workers in India through All India Nepalese Unity Society (1979-1986)

He returned to Nepal in 1986 after completion of his formal education, and was active in the party activities against the Panchyat regime. He served as the president of the United People's Front from 1991 to 2001.

After his party, the then CPN-Maoist, launched an armed rebellion in 1996, he went undergrournd for the movement. He was the convener of the people’s government since 2001.

He was involved in the peace talks with the government in 2003.

Salman Khan heading to US for treatment


 According to the news, Salman Khan leaves on Saturday for the US for treatment of a medical condition that causes him unbearable pain in the head, jaws and cheeks.
Amdist pain Salman wrapped up his commitments to promote his forthcoming film Bodyguard.
"Though he is suffering from severe pain, he finished off his interviews scheduled till last night. He is leaving for the US Aug 27 for the treatment," a source from the unit of Bodyguard said

He would miss Ganesh Chaturthi, Eid and the release of his film Bodyguard, which is hitting screens on 31st August.
Salman disclosed to media that the he had the first attack of pain in the left side of his face during the making of his film Partner (2007) and the pain came back while he was shooting for Veer (2010). He is suffering from this pain continuously since last year.
In medical parlance, Salman is suffering from trigeminal neuralgia and aneurysm.

Elizabeth Taylor named 'most photogenic celebrity of all time'


The late Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor has been voted the most photogenic celebrity of all time, beating figures such as Jennifer Aniston and David Beckham.

According to the survey conducted by MyMemory.com, a leading photo book website, Aniston and Beckham were placed second and third in the survey.

The respondents were shown pictures of celebrities they could vote for, with the possibility of choosing more than one celebrity
