Big Brother presenter Brian Dowling is sensationally set to get the axe from the long-running reality show, it is claimed.
According to The Sun, Channel 5 bosses have offered his job to Emma Willis – who currently hosts spin-off Big Brother’s Bit On The Side – in a bid to recapture the ‘glamour’ and ‘buzz’ of its former presenter Davina McCall.
If she accepts, the news could apparently be officially announced within the next fortnight.
However, Brian is thought to already be contracted to host the next two series, and would therefore have to be compensated if he was dropped.
The newspaper’s insider said: “Brian has been a great host but Emma is seen by channel chiefs as a true successor to Davina. They’re talking to her now about taking over the role from the summer.
“Like Davina when she hosted the show, Emma’s young, a mum of two, and very glamorous. The audience love her on BBBOTS and execs want to capitalise on that.
“She’s thinking it over but it’s a great opportunity and she would be mad to turn it down.”
Brian – who shot to fame as a housemate in Big Brother 2 – was signed up by C5 to host their revamped version of the show after he won Ultimate Big Brother, the last run to air on Channel 4.
Emma, a known BB superfan, has fronted its various companion shows since 2010.
Big Brother is expected to return to our screens in June with its fourteenth civilian edition.
