Pop singer Lady Gaga ranked as the most influential world celebrity by Forbes magazine recently, wants to play the role of the late British singer Amy Winehouse in a Hollywood biography.

According to Britain's Daily Star, Gaga, who has been looking to begin a film career, said the part was "the only role" for her.

"Lady Gaga worshipped Amy and would love nothing more than to transform herself into her idol on the big screen. She'd be spot on performing Amy's songs and has got the right look and bolshy attitude," the NME portal reported

Speaking on the US talk show The View, the singer admitted that she was speechless after the news of Winehouse's death. "I'm just so devastated and sad, I couldn't speak for like 48 hours straight, I was just so sad," NME quoted her as telling the show.
