Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020 now to come out as a movie!!!

UTV Motion pictures has acquired the rights to author Chetan Bhagat’s latest bestseller, Revolution 2020. Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO, UTV Motion Pictures, says, “We have been in discussions with Chetan for a while to do something together. When he shared his latest book with us even before it was published, we read it cover to cover in a single sitting.”

Revolution 2020 narrates the story of three central characters — Gopal, Raghav and Aarti — whose destinies are intertwined. “He has crafted a dramatic plot with such sharply defined characters, that you constantly wonder how things will play out. The issues he deals with are those that today’s youth will instantly relate to,” adds Kapur.

Revolution 2020 tells the story of childhood friends Gopal, Raghav and Aarti who struggle to find success and love in Varanasi. Gopal, the narrator and son of a poor school teacher, gets into trouble the first time he meets Aarti. He steals from her lunch box on their first day in class V, and she complains to the teacher. He apologises to her, and the two become friends. Well into their teens now, Gopal realises that he loves Aarti. He tells her, but she rebuffs him.
Gopal and his friend Raghav are both preparing for engineering entrance exams, though neither really wants to become an engineer. Raghav wants to be a journalist while Gopal simply wants to be rich, whatever the path may be. Raghav gets into Banaras Hindu University while Gopal fails to get an admission. His ailing father manages to find money to send him to take coaching classes in Kota. When he returns to Varanasi a year later, his childhood love Aarti is dating Raghav. After finishing the course, Raghav gets a job in a newspaper while Gopal starts a private engineering college with the help of a corrupt MLA. As Gopal gives in to the system, and Raghav fights it, the story is about who will win.Who will win it?

The Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots (2009), which was based on Bhagat’s debut novel Five Point Someone and also produced by UTV Motion Pictures, turned out to be the biggest grosser of all time in Indian cinema.

Apparently UTV is planning to rope in three Bollywood A-list actors for the lead characters of Gopal, Aarti and Raghav, but they’ve reserved comments on who they are in talks with.

Bhagat explains, “UTV finally managed to seduce me. Immense excitement about the story and a wonderful team makes me feel they can do justice to Revolution 2020.” To Read the Novel please follow the link below to download.
