Lindsay Lohan is dropping her surname to be Lindsay!!!!!

Lindsay Lohan, an American actress, pop singer and model, may change her name to simply "Lindsay," the troubled star's mother says, according to Fox News.Lindsay is popularly known for her leading roles in the films Freaky FridayMean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded, subsequently appearing in independent films including Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion and Emilio Estevez's Bobby.

The decision would allegedly be an attempt for the family to distance themselves from their estranged patriarch, Michael Lohan, who was charged earlier this week for assaulting his girlfriend Kate Major and has a history of legal troubles.
"Lindsay is dropping the Lohan and just going by Lindsay," Dina said. "Plus, me and [younger daughter] Ali will be officially changing our last names back to my maiden name, Sullivan."
Apparently, Lindsay has been considering dropping her surname for some time but was under the impression that no one would know who she was just going by her first name.
Several celebs have successfully dropped their last name, including Oprah, Prince, Bjork, Beyonce, Cher and Madonna. The difference with these cases is that Lindsay is a widely common name.

Dina and Michael Lohan got divorced in 2007, which is when Lindsay was arrested for drunk driving and cocaine possession and began her downward spiral through jail, alcohol and drug abuse and rehab.
The 24-year-old actress is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing on April 22, during which prosecutors are expected to present evidence against her and determine if there is enough to warrant a trial for a grand theft case, after allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, CA boutique. Also, a judge is set to determine if she violated her probation stemming from a 2007 drunk driving case.

Lohan's three stints behind bars have each lasted 84 minutes, 14 days and 15 hours - the last of which occurred in September after she failed a drug test and wrote about it on her Twitter page.
The actress is also currently under investigation in Riverside County in an alleged battery case over a December altercation the actress had with a worker at the Betty Ford Center.
But in response to this news Lindsay father, Michael responded with a clear denial later Friday during a visit to Jane Velez-Mitchell's hit HLN show. "I don't think it's true at all," he said. "I would never imagine any of my kids changing their name, especially Lindsay."

Lohan's representative has no immediate comment on the report.
