Big Brother Africa is the African version of the Big
Brother reality game show. The show initially involved 12 countries within
Africa (Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi,Namibia, Nigeria, South
Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe) with
two countries (Ethiopia and Mozambique) being added in season 4 and
two other countries (Liberia and Sierra Leone) being added in season 7.
Each country provides a contestant living in an isolated house while trying to
avoid being evicted by viewers and ultimately winning a large cash prize at the
end of the show. The show is co-produced by Endemol South Africa. The eighth
season of Big Brother Africa will air in 2013 with a new theme and tagline. M-net and
producers Big Brother Africa Season 8
will kick off on May 26 and the search for Housemates is on. Liberia will not participate;
it will be replaced by Ethiopia in the 2013 season.
The replacement comes as AfricaMagic and series producers EndemolSA rotate certain countries into and out of the format to ensure that a wide range of countries can be included in different editions of the series.
Some of the qualities looked for by producers include being fluent in English, entertaining and passionate about the Big Brother experience. In addition to all this are qualities of tolerance, determination and enthusiasm. Big Brother Africa Season 8 has currently finished audition in all participating countries and contestants are set to be announced next month before the show starts.
