Chetan Bhagat’s 'Revolution 2020' to come out as Movie

After Four Fiction of Popular Author Chetan Bhagat came as a Movie Now Chetan Bhagat has once again teamed up with Disney UTV, this time for the screen adaptation of his latest bestseller Revolution 2020, to be directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. The novel, which revolves around the lives of childhood friends — Gopal, Raghav and Aarti — will be made into a drama film with strong roles for the three main leads.

"It is an intense love story set against the backdrop of corruption in the education sector, which affects millions across the country. I can't wait for the three characters to be cast and brought to life," says the author, who earlier collaborated with the production house on Kai Po Che.

Speaking about his decision to direct the movie, Raj Kumar says, "When I read the novel, I was quite moved. It is a very simple and heartfelt story about being young, being confused, being in love, getting corrupt... I am looking forward to writing and directing this book for the screen."
Siddharth Roy Kapur, Managing Director, Studios, Disney UTV, adds, "We are excited to have played the catalyst in bringing Chetan and Raj Kumar together. Chetan had shared the draft of his book with us even before it was published and we instantly reacted to its cinematic potential. It has an incredibly well-graphed storyline and the issues it deals with are those that today's youth will instantly relate to and identify with."
The screenplay of the film is currently underway and is expected to go on floors mid-2014.

‘Da Vinci Code’ Author Dan Brown To Reveal Title to New Novel

Dan Brown’s publisher said Monday morning that it will publish the thriller writer’s next novel on May 14, but coyly declined to immediately release the title of the book.

Mr. Brown is the author of 2003’s “The Da Vinci Code” and other best-selling novels. On his Web site, he writes that he is currently working on the film version of his most recent book, “The Lost Symbol.”
The new work will again feature Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon and is set in Europe, where he focuses on what Random House’s Doubleday described as “one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces.”

Doubleday said the title will be revealed “later today via reader social media posts.”

In an interview with this newspaper in 2009 in which he discussed his fact-checking process for his fifth novel, “The Lost Symbol,” Mr. Brown said, “ The research is multi-layered. I’ll go to a place that I want to write about as often as three times to make sure that the descriptions are exactly right. You can’t always know from one or two visits which detail you are going to want to include. And I’ll talk to the building’s historian or specialist to make sure that what I’ve got is correct. Nobody reads the manuscript before it goes to the publisher. But my publisher has fact checkers, and you go through a very high level of scrutiny. That said, I’m weaving facts into a story of fiction.”

New book claims Michelle Obama prepared divorce papers to separate from Barack

Michelle Obama prepared divorce papers to separate from Barack Obama in 2000 following his disastrous attempt to win a House seat in Chicago, according to a new book.
When he lost miserably the future First Lady was supposedly disgusted that her husband had ignored her warnings not to take on the four term incumbent Bobby Rush.
Their marriage - in its eighth year at the time - was ‘on the rocks’ with Mr Obama so depressed some of his friends feared he was suicidal.
The claims mark the second time the Obamas have faced allegations they were on the verge of divorce after reports in 2010 suggested they were having difficulties.
The couple have admitted that in the past they did go through a rough patch but that they patched things up and grew closer together.
The Amateur writen byEdward Klein

The Obamas have now been married for 21 years and have two children, Malia, 13, and Sasha, nine.
In ‘The Amateur’, Mr Klein’s unauthorised account of Mr Obama’s life and first term in office, he claims that Mr Obama was over ambitious in his attempt to take on House member Mr Rush for the black South Side seat in Chicago.
In a crushing blow, he lost by two votes to one prompting claims from Mr Rush that he was an ‘educated fool’.
Mr Klein writes: ‘After Obama’s humiliating defeat he was broke and deeply in debt and it looked as though he might be finished in public life.
‘During the dark days that followed his defeat, he turned to Michelle for comfort. But she was in no mood to offer him sympathy.
Barack Obama with his wife Michelle Obama

‘As a result their marriage was on the rocks, and Obama confided to friends that he and Michelle were talking about divorce.
‘Michelle actually had divorce papers drawn up’, one of her friends told me’.
In desperation Mr Obama begged friends to help him open an office to stay in politics - but did not tell his wife for fear of her wrath if she found out.
The couple appear to have worked out their differences, however - Mr Obama ran for a Senate seat in Illinois and won it in, assuming office in 2005 and restoring his wife's faith in him.
The Amateur also includes a number of other claims about Mr Obama, including an interview with his former pastor Jeremiah Wright which could ignite the debate about his religion.
During the 'birther' row about where Mr Obama was born he faced repeated accusations that not only was he born in Kenya, he was in fact a Muslim and not a Christian as he claims to be.
Asked by Mr Klein if he converted Mr Obama from Islam to Christianity, Mr Wright said: ‘That’s hard to tell.
Barack Obama with his Family

‘I think I convinced him that it was okay for him to make a choice in terms of who he believed Jesus is. And I told him it was really okay and not a put down of the Muslim part of his family or his Muslim friends’.
Mr Obama was supposedly known as ‘Black Jesus’ by his former senior campaign adviser David Axelrod because of his messiah complex, Mr Klein writes.
He also had a run-in with Steven Rogers, a wealthy businessman who became the Gund Family Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Early in his campaign for the U.S. Senate he gave Mr Obama $3,000 and arranged for thousands more dollars to be donated to him on one condition: he come and speaks at the school when he got elected.
After becoming a Senator Mr Obama is said to have gone back on his offer because he was too busy and told Mr Rogers: ‘Come on man, you should know better when politicians make promises’.
Obama's couple with Oprah Winfrey

In a furious tirade Mr Rogers screamed at him and had used abusive language.
A year later Mr Obama finally showed up but by then Mr Rogers’ had all but written him off as a friend.
In extracts which had already been made public Mr Klein claims that Mrs Obama is so jealous of her husband receiving female attention she orders women who are close to him in the White House to be watched.
The First Lady is supposedly paranoid Mr Obama will cheat on her as John F Kennedy did to his wife.
In the book he adds more detail and claims when Mr Obama was studying at Harvard as a law student she would fly into jealous rages when she saw him with other women.
She was supposedly so territorial that she ‘drove a lot of Barack’s friends away’, Mr Klein writes.
The only reason they got married at all was that Mrs Obama ‘insisted’ upon it - because she wanted to ‘remake him’ as she wanted and not let him have an easy life.
The book claims that once her husband assumed office she began to wield power behind the scenes to such an extent that Mr Obama shares a ‘co-presidency’ with her.
Mr Klein also alleges that Mr Obama twice snubbed Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of former U.S. President John F Kennedy, and that he and Mrs Obama privately made disparaging comments about her family - and even their clothes.
‘Caroline got the impression that most of this negativity was coming from Michelle, who didn’t want the Kennedys to be part of the administration for fear that they would have too much influence over the president.’
Among others who were also shut out of the White House were Oprah Winfrey who Mr Klein claims was given the cold shoulder for being too fat.
The title of the book comes from a supposed outburst last August by former U.S. President Bill Clinton who branded Mr Obama ‘an amateur’.
He also urged his wife Hillary to quit her post as U.S. Secretary of State and challenge Mr Obama for the Democratic ticket in this year’s elections, telling her: ‘Your country needs you! Your country needs us!’
The White House has denounced the book and said that Mr Klein has a record for making things up.
Mr Clinton has also denied he insulted the President.

J.K. Rowling Reveals Title and Release Date of her First adult Novel

Harry Potter's adventures may be over, but author J.K. Rowling isn't finished casting her literary spell.
One of the most successful authors of all time sent fans into a tizzy when she announced in February that she'll be penning an adult-themed novel—her first literary effort since retiring her boy wizard's wand in 2007.
Rowling didn't reveal much then at that time , but now something have been revealed  about the book's title, storyline and when we can expect it to drop.
J.K. Rowling
First up, the title: The Casual Vacancy.
Intriguing! Sounds deceptively nondescript, but with just the right curio quotient thrown in.
So what's it about? Here's a brief synopsis provided by Rowling's publisher, Little, Brown:
"When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, and teachers at war with their pupils...Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen."

Hmmm…students, teachers, councils, ancient abbeys, battles—sounds like awfully familiar turf for Rowling, who earlier today tweeted a link to her brand-spankin'-new author website.
So when can you get your paws on Rowling's new tome?
Set your alarms for Sept. 27, 2012. And get those lawn chairs ready for what will likely be a bum-rush campout. You can see my download page to download ebooks for free.

'The 3 Mistakes of My life’movie gets Gujarati title

After directing super hit musical "Rock On!!", director Abhishek Kapoor will wield the magaphone for his next untitled movie based on the novel "The 3 Mistakes Of My Life" and says it will go on floors this month.
"I have locked the script. We are ready to roll the cameras. We are going on floors from this month (April)," Abhishek told IANS.
The “3 Mistakes Of My Life” is a big screen adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's bestseller and the author tweeted that the film’s title will be in Gujarati.
Kapoor refused to talke about the star cast and added: "We will make an official announcement soon."
When asked whether he has roped in Prateik to play one of the characters, the director said: "No it's not true."

Kapoor started his career as a director with “Aryan” in 2006, but became a known name after “Rock On!!”, which marked the acting debut of director Farhan Akhtar. Arjun Rampal won his first National Award for his performance in the movie.

"Saw first look posters for the '3 mistakes' movie. Wow! You shall be proud. But @utvfilms won't let me share them yet. Soon I promise," he added.

So far, two of Bhagat's books -- "Five Point Someone" and "One Night @ the Call Center", have inspired films - "3 Idiots" and "Hello" respectively.

“Hello” was released in 2008 but was not such a big success. But "3 Idiots", which talks about the life of three engineering students, went on to become the biggest hit of 2009.
The rights of his last novel "Revolution 2020" have been bagged by UTV Motion Pictures.

JK Rowling to write first novel for adults

JK Rowling famous for her Harry potter series has revealed that she plans to publish her first novel for adults, which will be "very different" from her 'Harry Potter' books. It will be published worldwide, but no date or title has been released yet.

"Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world," the BBC quoted her as saying in a statement.
J.K. Rowling

"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher," she said.

All the 'Potter' books were published by Bloomsbury, but Rowling has chosen a new publisher for her debut into adult fiction.

"I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life."

Little, Brown's David Shelley said the company were "thrilled, honoured and proud" to be publishing Rowling's latest novel.

The writer published seven 'Potter' books, which have sold more than 450 million copies around the world.

Jaipur literature festival: Salman Rushdie has canceled after assassination warnings

Booker-Prize winning author Salman Rushdie canceled plans to appear at an Indian literature festival Friday after protests from Muslim clerics and warnings that he could be targeted for assassination.
Rushdie’s planned appearance at the Jaipur Literary Festival had reawakened the long dormant controversy over his 1988 book “The Satanic Versus,” which some Muslims consider blasphemous. He spent years in hiding after Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini urged he be killed for writing the book, which also was banned in India.
In recent weeks, the head of the influential Darul Uloom seminary urged the government to bar Rushdie from the festival, and the chief minister of the state of Rajasthan, where Jaipur is located, said Rushdie should stay away because of security concerns.
Organizers of the five-day festival, which began Friday, postponed an event with Rushdie that had been planned for the first day, but still hoped he would attend.
On Friday, they read out a statement from the British-Indian author saying he had decided to cancel his trip after being informed by intelligence sources that “paid assassins from the Mumbai underworld may be on their way to Jaipur to ‘eliminate’ me.”
“While I have some doubts about the accuracy of this intelligence, it would be irresponsible of me to come to the festival in such circumstances,” he said.
The controversy over Rushdie’s attendance clouded the opening of the festival, which will be attended tens of thousands of people who have come to this city to see Oprah Winfrey and literary stars, such as Michael Ondaatje, Tom Stoppard and Annie Proulx.
“It is tragic,” said William Dalrymple, an author and an organizer of the festival.
Rushdie followed up with a message on his Twitter account: “Very sad not to be at jaipur. I was told bombay mafia don issued weapons to 2 hit me n to ‘eliminate’ me. Will do video link instead. Damn.”
The Indian city of Mumbai used to be known as Bombay.
Organizers said they were trying to work out the details for holding an event with Rushdie via video conferencing.

The 64-year-old author attended the annual festival in 2007 without incident.

Author Hari Kunzru tweeted that Mr Rushdie's absence from the festival is "a stain on India's international reputation".
Mr Rushdie was born in India but is a British citizen and has lived in the UKfor most of his life. In recent years he has made many private visits to Indiaand attended the Jaipur Literary Festival in 2007.
Correspondents say the protests against this year's planned trip are linked to crucial state elections due in Uttar Pradesh.

Correspondents say no political party wants to antagonise the Muslim community, which constitutes 18% of voters in the state, India's largest.
Meanwhile, the Jaipur festival got under way on Friday amid tight security. More than 250 authors and a number of celebrities are participating.
Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend the festival, which is being attended by authors Michael Ondaatje and Ben Okri, playwright Tom Stoppard, journalists David Remnick and Philip Gourevitch and TV host Oprah Winfrey, among others.

Jaipur literature festival: Oprah Winfrey in Jaipur today

In her maiden visit to India, international queen of talk shows, Oprah Winfrey in a 'saree' is going to present at the Jaipur Literature festival on Sunday. Oprah in her trip to Jaipur is arriving on Friday morning from a special chartered plane amidst heavy security comprising of local police and her bodyguards.

According to sources close to her, Oprah along with Deepak Kapoor with whom she is going to shot an interview at the City Palace, is arriving here from a chartered flight at 9.30 am at the international terminal of the Jaipur airport.

"From the airstrip itself her cavalcade would leave for a 5-star hotel in the city. After a while, she will participate in a function to be held at City Palacein the evening on Friday," said a source on Thursday.

Following the scuffle between her security guards with the shutterbugs in Vrindavan, Oprah has decided not to use the regular passengers lounge. "As a security concern, we will take her directly to the hotel from the airstrip itself," said a senior police officer.

On Saturday Oprah and her team, which is already in the town, are likely to shot their interview with Deepak Kapoor.

But, her visit to the Jaipur Literature festival would be "special". Steve Jobs biography might get an addendum

Perhaps following in the mold of Apple, biographer Walter Isaacson has hinted there might be a newer, better version of the Steve Jobs biography in the future.
According to a new article in Fortune, which spoke directly to Isaacson, there is already behind-the-scenes discussion about a new edition of the book.
Of course, since the book was actually completed and ready for the printers before Jobs's death, there is nothing in the biography about the final moments of the man's life - something that seems quite necessary for a book that chronicles the entire life of someone.

So one thing that is on the table is an addendum that would add more information about those final weeks, days, and hours.

Beyond that, there are also rumblings about a completely overhauled version of the current edition, one that would provide extensive annotations throughout the book.
Clearly, Isaacson wants to keep the Jobs biography fresh and interesting, and since it was the Apple co-founder's death that was partially responsible to catapulting the book to untouchable best-seller status, having more details about the death itself would be a sure way to gain new attention.
When commenting about how well the current biography captures the life of Jobs, Isaacson was quoted as saying, "This is the first or second draft. It's not the final draft."

Bhagavad Gita faces 'extremist' branding, ban in Russia

Bhagavad Gita, one of the holiest Hindu scriptures, is facing a legal ban and the prospect of being branded as "an extremist" literature across Russia. A court in Siberia's Tomskcity is set to deliver its final verdict Monday in a case filed by state prosecutors.

The final pronouncement in the case will come two days after Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his Dec 15-17 official visit for a bilateral summit with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev consolidated bilateral trade and strategic ties and personal friendship.

The case, which has been going on in Tomskcourt since June, seeks ban on a Russian translation of "Bhagavad Gita As It Is" written by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

It also wants the Hindu religious text banned in Russia and declared as a literature spreading "social discord", its distribution on Russian soil rendered illegal.
Holly Book of Hindu BHAGAVAD GITA

In view of the case, Indians settled in Moscow, numbering about 15,000, and followers of the ISKCON religious movement here have appealed to Manmohan Singh and his government to intervene diplomatically to resolve the issue in favour of the scripture, an important part of Indian epic Mahabharata written by sage Ved Vyas.

The ISKCON followers in Russiahave also written a letter to the Prime Minister's Office in New Delhi, calling for immediate intervention, lest the religious freedom of Hindus living here be compromised.

"The case is coming up for a final verdict on Monday in Tomsk court. We want all efforts from the Indian government to protect the religious rights of Hindus in Russia," Sadhu Priya Das of ISKCON and a devotee of a 40-year-old Krishna temple in central Moscow, told IANS.
The Hindus pleaded with the court that the case was inspired by religious bias and intolerance from a "majority religious group in Russia", and have sought that their rights to practice their religious beliefs be upheld.

The prosecutor's case also seeks to ban the preachings of Prabhupada and ISKCON's religious beliefs, claiming these were "extremist" in nature and preached "hatred" of other religious beliefs.

"They have not just tried to get the Bhagavad Gita banned, but also brand our religious beliefs and preachings as extremist," Das said.

The ISKCON devotees have taken up the matter with the Indian embassy in Moscow too for an early diplomatic intervention before things get worse and the court passes an adverse verdict banning the Bhagavad Gita and Krishna consciousness teachings.

In the Nov 1 letter addressed to Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Pulok Chatterji, ISKCON's New Delhi branch Governing Body Commissioner Gopal Krishna Goswami, said the prosecutor's affidavit claims Lord Krishna "is evil and not conforming to Christian religious view".

Goswami also urged Manmohan Singh to accord priority to the matter during his Moscow stay and take it up with the Russian authorities.

Indian diplomatic corps officials at the embassy here, who were unwilling to be named, told IANS that they have been following up the case since the time it was brought to their notice earlier this year.

They had also taken up the matter at the appropriate levels in the Russian government to get the case either withdrawn or get the defence to fight the case to obtain a favourable verdict.

Officials at the Indian Prime Minister's Office, who were part of the Indian delegation accompanying Manmohan Singh, confirmed to IANS the case and the letter they received from ISKCON in this regard.

"This matter is receiving the highest attention and the Indian embassy officials in Moscowhave been instructed to follow up the case with the Russian authorities," they said.

It is not a sugary sweet type love story. Aarti, the girl likes both the guys and all the characters are not secure about their love. The story highlights the fact of the new love trend that is ‘I love you, but I also have a backup’ in which people thinks something and says something else. The tagline ‘Love.Corruption.Ambition.’ refers to the central themes of the book. Corrupted education sector is the backdrop of the story. And three characters of the book have strong ambitions. The ways through which they are achieving their ambitions forms a big part of the story.
Topics of Chetan Bhagat’s novel inspire reader much better than his writing. Today the levels of corruption in the country and its effect on the education system are noticeably serious concerns. When author travel for his usual talks in Varanasi, he feels that the voices of India’s small town are not heard enough by the government and it is detached in terms of providing them a good job or a college. These disturbing levels of corruption in the education system have deep effects on the quality of education about which the government claim to give to our new generation. Chetan Bhagat believes that as an author of present India, he decided to provoke some thoughts in this direction by making light, gripping, and entertaining story that can able to bring people’s attention. So, the story is consisting with momentous messages along with the romance and a lot of drama this time.
