Will Sushmita Sen marry Pakistan’s Wasim Akram?

The rumour mill is abuzz again about how Indian actress Sushmita Sen will marry former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram later this month in Dubai.Reports of their wedding started doing the rounds soon after a website reported that the former Miss Universe is dating the Pakistani skipper.

This isn’t the first time the two have been linked together. A few years ago, there were talks about how the two were dating after hosting a TV reality show together.The marriage talks have only recently surfaced, after Sush fuelled it with a declaration on twitter about getting hitched by the end of this year.“Yes, I do plan to get married next year. I think it is time. I have made everybody wait a lot,” her tweet had read.She had even added; “I am taking my time to say yes, but once I say I do, it will be for keeps as I firmly believe in the institution of marriage.”

The 36-year-old actress has two adopted daughters and said the girls were eager to see her married.“Alisah is too young but Renee is quite comfortable with me being single. She would like to see me as a bride one day, but she does not push me for it. She is 13 and we are more like friends; she understands me as a woman now. It’s only when she has skipped homework that I become the mother,” she told Indian media.

Although media reports claim Sushmita is marrying Akram, we hear the cricketer is actually living in with his Australian model-girlfriend in Karachi.Her spokesperson, however, denied the reports. “It's not true. In fact, Sushmita is having a show in Mumbai on April 24. I don't think she can attend an event in Mumbai and plan her wedding simultaneously.”Some insiders even speculate that Sushmita and Akram will say ‘I do’ in Dubai because of the political implications that their marriage will evoke.

In fact, after tying the knot, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik have made Dubai their home because of the same reasons.

Sushmita boasts of a long list of boyfriends, with filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, Mudassar Aziz, 23-year-old business man Imtiyaz Khatri and actor Randeep Hooda featuring on the list. On many occasions, each link-up had almost culminated in matrimony.

Earlier, she had expressed her desire to have a lavish church wedding. "It is my childhood dream to have a Christian-style wedding, just like the fairy tales. I always imagine myself as a bride who will wear a gown, with a long train and veil. I find the idea of walking down the aisle and then being handed to the groom by the father very romantic," she had said.

Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai signs USD 3 million deal to publish her memoir

Malala Yousafzai , the Pakistani schoolgirl shot in the head at point-blank range by Taliban for advocating girls' education, has become a millionaire by signing a deal for around USD 3 million to publish her memoir."The life story of a 15-year Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban will be published later this year, in a deal reported to be worth around 2 million pounds (USD 3 million)," the UK-based Guardian newspaper reported.
The book, titled "I am Malala", will be published by Weidenfeld and Nicholson in the UK and Commonwealth and by Little, Brown in the rest of the world, the paper said, adding that a spokeswoman for the publisher could not confirm reports about the value of the publishing deal.

"I want to tell my story, but it will also be the story of 61 million children who can't get education," Malala said. "I want it to be part of the campaign to give every boy and girl the right to go to school. It is their basic right."

She said: "I hope this book will reach people around the world, so they realise how difficult it is for some children to get access to education."

Malala escaped death by a matter of inches when she was shot on a school bus in north-western Pakistan on October 9, 2012 as the bullet entered just above her left eye and ran along her jaw, grazing past her brain.The Taliban had said they targeted Malala because she promoted girls' education and "Western thinking".
Surgeons in Pakistan removed the bullet before she was air-lifted to the UK for life-saving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

She has now returned to school and joined the girls in Year 9. Malala's family are currently living in the West Midlands. Her father has been appointed education attache at the Consulate of Pakistan for the next three years.
She began writing a blog on the BBC Urdu service under a pseudonym about life in the Swat Valley in 2009. She was shot after her real identity became known. Since the shooting, Malala has been awarded several peace prizes and is the youngest person to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Music lovers from across the world will be in for a treat as the Grand Finale of the Indo-Pak Musical Extravaganza – Sur-Kshetra reaches its epic climax on on Friday. Although I have had a lot of fights in the show I still believe I am the laadla on the sets.” When quizzed about his favourite contestant Atif said, “Reaching the grand finale is a huge achievement in its own right; according to me all four of them are winners.”

Talking on her experience of judging the show Abida Parveen said, “I have been a celebrity judge on numerous occasions in the past but this was the first time I shouldered the responsibility of judging the entire series. The highlight of the show for me was Aasha, Runa and I sharing the same stage. The most difficult part for us has been to decide which contestant to give a 0 or 10 as the talent was so competitive. India vs Pakistan 'live' in Dubai: Song contest Sur Kshetra's grand finale

The musical battle, Sur Kshetra, between India and Pakistan singing stars is poised to have a grand finale in Dubai on December 20.

The finale at Dubai World Trade Centre’s Saeed Hall 2 will be attended by singing legends and judges of the show Asha Bhosle, Abida Parveen and Runa Laila.The show which went on air from September 8 this year saw famous music composer and singer Himesh Reshammiya monitor team India and Pakistani singer Atif Aslam looking after the Pakistani artists.

For the first time ever singers from either side of the border faced each other on a musical platform.Industry veterans Asha Bhosle, Abida Parveen and Runa Laila were the jury on the show.

Himesh Reshammiya's team comprised of singers like Indrani Bhattacharjee (Kolkata), Shahzad Ali (Bikaner), Yashraj Kapil (Delhi), Aman G Trikha (Mumbai), Diljaan (Jalandhar), and Budhaditya Mukherjee (Kolkata).

Competing with them and showcasing their international singing talent under the guidance of Atif Aslam were singers Ameer Ali (Karachi), Imraan Ali (Lahore), Mulazim Husain (Rawalpindi), Nabeel Shaukat Ali (Lahore), Sara Raza Khan (Karachi) and Nadeem Abbas (Lahore). But after intense musical duel the grand finale is here and there were supposed to be five finalists. After much drama, both of them were declared finalists.

The teams will battle it out for the final time. After three hours of power packed performances the winning team will be crowned in Dubai.

Hina Rabbani Khar, Bilawal Bhutto having love affair

A Bangladeshi tabloid has broken news of a sensational romantic affair between Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and Bilawal Bhutto, the son of President Asif Ali Zardari. The country is said to be abuzz with news of the love affair, and the couple’s plans to marry and move to in Switzerland. 

Bilawal, who is also chairman of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party, is 11 years younger than Khar, the Weekly Blitzof Bangladesh reported. Khar, 34, who is already married to millionaire businessman Firoze Gulzar and has two daughters named Annaya and Dina, is seeking a divorce.

The report alleges that the affair came to light when Bilawal and Khar were caught in a compromising position in Zardari's official residence. The President, who then obtained mobile call records between his only son Bilawal and his foreign affairs minister Khar to confirm the affair, is said to be absolutely furious. 

It was also revealed that Khar sent Bilawal a greeting card on September 21 last year for his birthday with a hand-written message stating: “The foundation of our relations is eternal and soon we shall be just ourselves.”
 
Bilawal also received a “special gift” from Khar on Eid Ul Fitr and a flower bouquet and a hand-written greeting card stating – “We waited enough.... it’s time to give an end to our waiting. Eid Mubarak!”

Reports said that when Zardari learnt of the affair, he called Khar and made no secret of his intense disapproval. But Khar, reportedly, asked him to refrain from “poking his nose into her personal affairs”, the report said. 

She even threatened to resign from the ministry as well as membership of Pakistan Peoples Party. The report also claims that in an attempt to discourage Khar from the relationship, Zardari used government machinery against the business interests of Khar’s husband, but failed in his endeavour. 

Despite Zardari’s aggressive attitude towards the unlikely romance, Bilawal appears determined to go ahead with plans to marry Khar. He too has threatened to resign from the PPP.

"He even told Zardari that he will shift to Switzerland with Khar and her daughters”, though later he told his father that Khar might “leave her daughters with her husband after the divorce”, said the report, which cites Western intelligence inputs as its source.

Sources close to the Zardari family said that Bilawal is prepared to quit politics and leave the country this year end or early 2013. Khar is also expected to resign from the ministry around the same time. Khar’s marriage began to crumble two years ago when Gulzar was caught having an affair with a female staffer. 

She informed her father and they collected evidence of Gulzar’s extra-marital affairs. It was then, sources said, that Khar, who was devastated by the betrayal of her husband, allegedly attempted suicide by swallowing sleeping pills.

Hina Rabbani Khar was born on January 19, 1977 in Multan. Proud of her ancestral village and all that life gave her, Hina is a buoyantly zestful lady. She feels that being in the Federal Government is as good as it can get. She has no issues, whatsoever, with being a woman. In fact, she feels that it is more positive than negative as one gets a lot more recognition and opportunities, and a lot of it has to do with how professional the person is. Her age did matter at times, because by any standard, she is quite very young to be in such a position. However her rich work experience and on-the-job training helped her and above all she took herself seriously; so did everyone else. She regards President Musharraf and Ex-Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz as leaders of great worth. To her both these leaders are highly educated and professional and they surely made a difference.

Elaborating on the policies of President Musharraf, she expressed her regard for President Musharraf as a visionary leader. She acknowledged the people of Pakistan as resilient and strong but detested few segments of our society: who adopt a western culture and regard it as something good. She feels that there has been a huge revolution in the last few years. She graduated in 1999 from LUMS and then left for USA. In these six years, she feels that there has been a paradigm shift. The society has moved towards modernization and westernization. Hina Khar feels that today it is hard to distinguish Pakistan's urban citizens from the Westerners. However, she opined that it can be done with sophistication, if at all it’s necessary. She cannot stand people who are not proud to be Pakistanis, whether they are here in Pakistan or settled abroad. She hates people changing their names to be ‘vilayati’ (foreign) and acquired accents and other things of the sort. She believes we have to understand and accept the culture we're living in and be proud of it to really stand out on our own. Emulating selective aspects of another culture doesn't really translate into true social progress.

She is a proud Pakistani and regards this very feeling as her most treasured asset. She really feels proud of whatever God has given her: her family, her village, her background, and everything. She feels that Pakistan has a great deal to offer. She loves trekking. She recollected her visit to Nanga Parbat and K2 (with the ‘LUMS Adventure Society’) with joyfulness; nostalgia gripped her and she appreciated the diversity of the landscape and the hospitality of people as enough to warm one’s heart towards this country. In Pakistan, people and places make you feel welcome. Freedom of expression is also a thing, unique to Pakistan. She said that even in the remotest areas, one can sit at a railway station to have tea with the porters and have a real conversation with them. Then, during the elections process, when she visited her constituents, she found them to be hospitable in spite of their limited means. A guy earning Rs.3000 a month will lay out a feast for his guests. It all speaks to the generous and warm nature of our culture, which is definitely something we should be proud of!

She considers herself extremely lucky. She is happy for the way her mind is constantly challenged in terms of working hours, the changes she can make, and the room for innovation is just tremendous. She has been able to make some changes that aren’t very popular, but in the long term they are great for Pakistan, e.g. in the telecommunications and banking sectors. However she feels that on the flip side, there are no guarantees in the political field, so she did not comment on how much control she has over making it a lifelong career. She regards working with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and President Musharraf as one of the biggest factors in her sense of pride for Pakistan.

Hina Rabbani Khar has travelled to USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, U.A.E, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. She is single and enjoys riding, reading and travelling. She is also a member of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) Pakistan.

She is articulate, brilliant, enterprising, and very far-sighted even at such a young age. Moreover, she is humble, approachable, professional, and knows her job very well. Big Boss Six to air from October 7

If the Reality Show Lovers who are wondering when will the most exciting and  favorite TV show Big Boss 6  start, Here is a good news for you all  that it has almost been confirmed that Big Boss will Start on 7^th of October 2012. Color television will bring the most awaited show to its audience.

Here’s more dope…two daily shows on Colors are going off air around that time i.e. Chhal-Sheh Aur Maat (9 pm) and Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha (10.30 pm). So where will channel honchos put this Endemol produced show? The chances of 9 pm slot are better for there are kids in the house as well and the makers are promising a cleaner Bigg Boss than ever before.

Hence, if they air it at 10.30 pm it could mean losing out on the kids and family audiences. But 9 pm slotting puts a question mark on Ekta Kapoor’s Parichay which now airs at 9.30pm.
Another question mark is whether the premiere telecast time will be different than the daily or regular air time as in all previous seasons the first episode has been longer wherein all the housemates get introduced.
It is believed that the launch episode will hit the screens at 8.30 pm. But the clouds of doubts will only vanish when Salman addresses the media on 16 September.
Coming to the contestants, we had earlier reported that Salman Yusuff Khan (current Jhalak contestant as well) had been approached but now from the  sources informed us that he will not be doing the show as he has got an offer to choreograph in a film. Other media reports have suggested that starlet Nupur Mehta, who was recently in the news for match fixing, might also be in the list as well.

Twitter blocked in Pakistan over contentious material

Pakistan blocked the social networking website Twitter on Sunday because it refused to remove material considered offensive to Islam, said one of the country’s top telecommunications officials.

The material was promoting a competition on Facebook to post images of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, said Mohammad Yaseen, chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication’s Authority. Many Muslims regard depictions of the prophet, even favorable ones, as blasphemous.

Yaseen said Facebook agreed to address Pakistan’s concerns about the competition, but officials have failed to get Twitter to do the same.

”We have been negotiating with them until last night, but they did not agree to remove the stuff, so we had to block it,” said Yaseen.

Instructions to block the site came from Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology, said Yaseen.

”The ministry officials are still trying to make them (Twitter) agree, and once they remove that stuff, the site will be unblocked,” said Yaseen.
Officials from Twitter and Facebook were not immediately available for comment.

A top court in Pakistanordered a ban on Facebook in 2010 amid anger over a similar competition. The ban was lifted about two weeks later, after Facebook blocked the particular page in Pakistan.

The Pakistani government said at the time that it would continue to monitor other major websites for anti-Islamic links and content.

Doctors remove four extra limbs from baby who was born with

A baby boy born with six legs has had a successful operation to remove his four extra limbs, doctors said today.

The youngster from Karachi in Pakistanwas believed to have had a parasitic twin, which had not developed properly in the womb, resulting in the extra legs.

A team of five doctors had fought to save the boy's life at the National Institute of Child Health in Karachi.

The head of the NICH, Jamal Raza, said the abnormal birth was the result of a genetic disease which would affect only one in a million or more babies.

'It was strange that apparently an abnormal baby with six legs was as normal as other children,' he said.

Before surgeons could operate they said they had to work out which of the limbs belonged to the boy and which to his twin.

Doctors examined MRI, blood tests and CT scan reports before deciding to perform the surgery. The operation lasted eight-hours and was performed in stages.

The baby had been in an intensive care unit ward since he was born last week to the wife of an X-ray technician.

Imran Shaikh, the baby's father who lives in Sukkur, said he was grateful his son was treated.

'We are a poor family. I am thankful to the government and doctors for helping us successful operating my baby,' he said.

Shaikh and his wife live in Sukkur, around 280 miles north of where his son is being cared for. His wife is reported to be recovering well from the birth and in a good state of health. 

His wife - who is also his cousin - has been unable to travel because she had a caesarean section delivery.

He said they were planning on naming their son Umar Farooq.

The Sindh provincial health department said they were examining if he needed any further treatment to live a normal life.

71,240 Suitors Vie For Veena Malik's Swayamvar, Only 40 Selected

Nearly 71,240 suitors have lined up for the hand of Pakistani actor Veena Malik in her TV swayamvar reality show, reports HT City.

For Swayamvar Season 4 - Veena Ka Vivah, Veena Malik has attracted the maximum number of entries (71,240) on Imagine TV, leaving far behind Rakhi Sawant (30,000), Rahul Mahajan (43,000) and Ratan Rajput (54,000).

Most of the 'applicants', the report said, are from India, Pakistan, the UK and the US, and even from faraway Poland.

Says an excited Veena: "I am overwhelmed by the response, but was thrilled that the maximum number of entries were from India."

Delhi, Haryana, National Capital Region, Moradabad, Uttarakhand are the frontrunners with 41 per cent of the entries from these areas, the report said. Mumbai and Pune followed with 38 per cent.The show received over 600 international entries, with 39 per cent applicants from Pakistanand the rest from Saudia Arabia, US, UK, Poland, New Zealand, Bahrainand Nepal.

Says Veena Malik: "I knew that guys serious about getting married would send in their profiles, but over 71,000 is a number beyond my expectations.And though I was expecting entries from the UK, US, India and Pakistan, I found it surprising to see a large number of entries from Poland."

"I think Pakistani and Indian girls are famous for their beauty, family values and tradition, which is why even guys from Polandare interested."The show's production team screened the entries and whittled them down to 116.Veena then picked the top 40. "Choosing the 16 finalists is giving me sleepless nights", says Veena.

Veena Malik will get Rs 3 crore for the show and an additional Rs 1.5 crore if she gets married.

"I want to grow old with my husband. I want a soul mate."Sure, why not. Money makes the world go round.
