Big Brother 2013 UK video: Watch the new promo for series 14

Channel 5 have released a new, longer promo for Big Brother UK, as it’s launch date is confirmed. The fourteenth series of the Channel 5 show will kick off its live launch from 9PM on Thursday, June 8, with this year’s show being named ‘Secrets and Lies’.

The launch will be spread over two nights, starting on the Thursday and continuing with a second live show on Friday, also at 9PM.
This year bosses are telling us to expect Big Brother to be “harder and harsher” than ever, promising “countless twists, turns and tough tasks”

Suspicion will be rife as the housemates attempt to untangle Big Brother’s web of secrets and lies. How will they separate the fact from the fiction and do they have secrets of their own?
In the ‘Big Brother: Secrets & Lies’ house, it’s all about self-sufficiency and recycling. As the housemates enter through the front doors, they will be greeted by a huge feature wall containing recycled life-size front doors. But what do they signify and what lies behind them?

The sweeping staircase will take them down into an eco-style living space. Although impressive in appearance, this house is not a hotel and provides a tougher environment than ever before.”
The redesigned Big Brother house will features 27 remote controlled cameras, 12 fixed cameras, five manned cameras and 10 infra-red cameras, as well as a ‘tower cam’ that will provide ‘sweeping views’ of the garden

Meteorites hit Russia, More than thousands injured (watch Video)

A 150-foot-wide rock is making an unusually close pass by Earth. Last morning, a heavy meteor shower rained down on central Russia on Friday, sowing panic as the hurtling space debris smashed windows and injured dozens of stunned locals, officials said.
The gymnasium-sized rock 2012 DA14, 40 or 50 meters (130 to 160 feet) across, is making the closest Earth flyby of a natural object ever predicted well in advance.
It will pass within 28,500 km (18,000 miles) of Earth’s surface at 19:25 Universal Time (11.25am UAE time) tonight, February 15th. It would have then reached 8th magnitude as it whizzes north across the stars at a rate of 0.8° per minute.
Meteorites looking like large burning Rock

According to various reports, at least 1000 people were reportedly ‘injured’ when a meteor streaked across the sky over Russia’s Ural Mountains on Friday morning.
The meteor triggered several big explosions, sending fragments falling to earth. Russian Interior Ministry spokesman said more than 500 people hurt in meteorite fall.

There are conflicting reports about what actually happened.

Eight meter Hole Left by Meteorites in Russia

Schools in the Urals area of Russia have been ordered to remain shut for the day as a precautionary measure after reports of the impact blowing out windows of buildings and with temperatures plunging in central Russia to -18˚C (0˚F).
A spokeswoman for the Emergency Ministry, Irina Rossius, told The Associated Press that there was a meteor shower, but another ministry spokeswoman, Elena Smirnikh, was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying it was a single meteorite.
Amateur video broadcast on Russian television showed an object speeding across the sky, leaving a thick white contrail and an intense flash.
Russia Today, a news network broadcasting from Moscow and Washington studios, has published this YouTube video showing amateur footage of a bright ball of fire, the meteorite, hitting earth and causing what it says was a series of explosions.
Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working just after the meteor shower.

After Gangnam Style, it's Harlem Shake this year

AfterGangnam Style, it'sHarlem Shakevideo that's making quite a buzz on YouTube.
Harlem Shake, a dance that originated in Harlem in the 1980s, is the latest internet phenomenon that has gone viral.
According to YouTube trends blog: The meme first started gaining traction last week and is attributed to a silly video from a vlogger named "Filthy Frank." Though it was another user named SunnyCoastSkate who then established the form we've become familiar with: the jump cut, the helmet, etc.

Over 12,000Harlem Shakevideos had been posted since the start of the month and they'd already been watched upwards of 44 million times and 4,000 more videos are being uploaded per day, as per YouTube.
The Harlem Shake is a dance that originally began in Harlem, New York. Since its beginnings it has spread to other urban areas and became popular in music videos. The modern day Harlem Shake was started by a man by the name of "Al B" (nickname Sisqo or Cisco). Al B was an alcoholic who would perform the dance upon request. Because of its founder, the dance was originally called the "albee" in Rucker and Harlem, but then later became known as the Harlem Shake.

It may not get the billion hits thatGangnam Style got but Harlem Shake looks set to create a record of the number of videos uploaded on a single theme.

Here's the video that started it all and inspired many other versions.

Fans travelled from as far as Alabama and California to join with members of the New Haven and Yale community to hear Khan speak to a capacity audience of about 1,700.
Khan charmed the crowd as he spoke to them about success and failure and how to live life to the fullest. He encouraged young people to find fulfilment in creativity, to learn to laugh at themselves and to never become cynical about their lives.

"Failure is a fiendish friend that can lead to success by teaching one to be pragmatic, to work harder, and to be true to oneself," he said, adding that the true strength of one's friendships is tested in the face of strong adversity.

Khan emphasised the importance of young people appreciating and cherishing their parents' love.

"Whatever you do, whichever mistakes you make, your parents are your best friends," he said.

The lecture took a light-hearted turn when Khan danced his signature 'Chammak Challo' moves with Yale student Natalia Khosla.

"This is the most fun I have had in months!" Khan said.
Khan was introduced by Yale student Isha Ambani, who is president of the South Asian Society at Yale and participated in a conversation onstage with Jeffrey Brenzel, Yale dean of undergraduate admissions and master of Timothy DwightCollege, the Yale residential college that administers the Chubb Fellowship; YaleCollege alumna Sarika Arya; and Yale Law School student Nihkil Sud.

This week’s UK release of the DVD has led to a series of stories treating the clip (below) as a “new trailer” for the movie; it’s not, although the wait for an actual new sneak peek is nearly over, with the official teaser debuting in theaters with The Hunger Games on March 23. Sorry Junrey, Nepali is world's shortest man again !!(Watch Video)

A 72-year-old man from a remote valley in southwestern Nepal was on Sunday declared the shortest man ever documented after being measured by Guinness World Records officials.
Chandra Bahadur Dangi stands just 54.6 centimeters (21.5 inches) tall, measurements confirmed, 5.3 cm shorter than Filipino Junrey Balawing, the previous holder of the "world's shortest man" title.
"I'm continually amazed that this record keeps getting broken," Guinness World Records editor-in-chief Craig Glenday said in a statement after the adjudication in the Nepali capital Kathmandu.
"Just when you think it's impossible for the record to get any smaller, Mr Dangi comes along and astonishes us all.
"What I find equally remarkable is his age -- if he really is 72, he is by far the oldest person to be awarded the shortest-man record in Guinness World Record's 57-year history," Glenday added.

Dangi has also been declared the shortest human adult ever documented, taking the accolade from India's Gul Mohammed, who was measured at 57cm before he died in 1997 aged 40.
Dangi, who weighs 12 kilograms (26.5 pounds), was brought to the attention of the world only three weeks ago after Nepali researchers looking into the history of the Dangi people were introduced to him.
He told AFP in his first interview with Western media earlier this month that recognition at the end of his life would be some compensation for years of hardship.
The pensioner, who was orphaned at 12, says relatives used to display him at freak shows to make money for themselves and that he has never experienced romance or found his soulmate.

"Until now, Chandra's stature has been a burden; he is acutely aware of the difficulties of fitting into an average-sized world and is disappointed at having missed out on the chance to find a wife," Guinness World Records said on Sunday.
"He is hopeful, though, that his new title will see a change in his fortunes."
The cause of his stunted growth remains a mystery although many holders of the "world's shortest man" crown have suffered from primordial dwarfism.
Dangi earns a sparse living weaving jute headbands and has only ever left his village in poverty-stricken Dang district, 350 kilometres (220 miles) from Kathmandu, a handful of times.
Guinness World Records quoted Dangi, who visited Kathmandu for the first time to be measured, as saying he was too old for marriage but would still like to travel.
"I want to visit foreign countries and meet people from around the world," Dangi said.
Another Nepali, Khagendra Thapa Magar, claimed the title in 2010 after being measured at 67 cm.
Magar's stint as the world's shortest man saw him travel to more than a dozen countries and make television appearances in Europe and the United States.

Ryan Giggs' estranged sister-in-law Natasha Giggs has become the second person to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house.Natasha and Nicola were put up for the public vote on Wednesday after both being nominated by Georgia in a midweek twist.

Natasha Giggs in the show after being evicted
The mother-of-two, 28, and Nicola McLean went head-to-head for eviction after being nominated by Irish model Georgia Salpa after she survived Wednesday's eviction.
Speaking to host Brian Dowling, Natasha said: 'I'm feeling fine, its just the emotions of it all. Its just so strange.'

When asked if she was bothered by the booing crowd, she insisted: 'I have 100 per cent been myself and if people don't like it, then that is me.

'I've had an absolute ball. I didn't think I would.' She admitted she wasn't surprised that Georgia had chosen her to go up for eviction because 'I hadn't really mixed with (her) at the time.'

Natasha said she was surprised she had formed such a friendship with Nicola in the house given their Twitter row beforehand.

She enthused: 'She really is a great girl. I was obviously was a bit nervous cos we had a bit of a thing before going in the house...

'It wasn't a fight. It wasn't an argument. She came up to me and straightened it out and I was so grateful.'
The Mancunian was holding hands with Kirk Norcross when she found out her fate, but assured her fellow housemates she didn't mind leaving.
She said: 'I'm fine, I'm fine.'
When questioned about  flirting with Kirk at a party the previous night, Natasha laughed: 'I love Kirk. Everyone flirts with Kirk. Kirk is the biggest flirt ever. You can't help but flirt with Kirk.'
But she insisted there was no attraction with actor Michael Madsen: 'I did not flirt with Michael.'
Asked what she had learned during her time in the house following a complicated 2011 - which saw her confess to an eight-year affair with her husband Rhodri's brother Ryan, she said: 'I don't listen to people enough. I need to take on board what people are saying to me.'

When asked for who she wanted to win the show, Natasha tipped Gareth Thomas.

Despite being the bookies' favourite to be the second evictee, Nicola survived the vote.

Photographs and video from the Earth quake and Tsunami in japan 2011!!!!

A powerful tsunami spawned by the largest earthquake in Japan's recorded history slammed the eastern coast Friday, sweeping away boats, cars, homes and people as widespread fires burned out of control. Authorities said at least 32 people were killed.

The magnitude 8.9 offshore quake was followed by at least 19 aftershocks, most of them of more than magnitude 6.0. Dozens of cities and villages along a 1,300-mile (2,100-kilometer) stretch of coastline were shaken by violent tremors that reached as far away as Tokyo, hundreds of miles (kilometers) from the epicenter.

A tsunami warning was issued for the entire Pacific, including areas as far away as South America, the entire U.S. West Coast, Canada and Alaska.
Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency said at least 32 people were killed. A utility company in northeastern Japan reported a fire in a turbine building of nuclear power plant.
"The earthquake has caused major damage in broad areas in northern Japan," Prime Minister Naoto Kan said at a news conference.

Even for a country used to earthquakes, this one was of horrific proportions. It unleashed a 23-foot (7-meter) tsunami that swept boats, cars, buildings and tons of debris miles inland.
Large fishing boats and other sea vessels rode high waves into the cities, slamming against overpasses. Upturned and partially submerged vehicles were seen bobbing in the water.

Waves of muddy waters swept over farmland near the city of Sendai, carrying buildings, some on fire, inland as cars attempted to drive away. Sendai airport, north of Tokyo, was inundated with cars, trucks, buses and thick mud deposited over its runways. Fires spread through a section of the city, public broadcaster NHK reported.

The tsunami roared over embankments, washing anything in its path inland before reversing directions and carrying the cars, homes and other debris out to sea. Flames shot from some of the houses, probably because of burst gas pipes.

"Our initial assessment indicates that there has already been enormous damage," Chief government spokesman Yukio Edano said. "We will make maximum relief effort based on that assessment."

He said the Defense Ministry was sending troops to the quake-hit region. A utility aircraft and several helicopters were on the way.

A large fire erupted at the Cosmo oil refinery in Ichihara city in Chiba prefecture near Tokyo and was burning out of control with 100-foot (30 meter) -high flames whipping into the sky.
