The days have arrived  that will  force Nepalese to live in dar for more hours as Nepal electricity authority  haas announced new load shedding schedule Effective from September 15, Bhadra 30 Sunday

NEA Decrease load Shedding Effective from 9 Jun 2013,26th Jestha 2070

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reduced  the load-shedding to 43 hours from 56 hours a week with effect from  June 9, 2013 (Jestha 26, 2070). As per the new schedule, Nepalese people will have to live in darkness for 6 hours for six days each and 7 hours for a day in a week. According to Sources the reduction in Load Shedding is possible due to the reason that all the River Based Power plant had started producing electricity to almost of their strength.

NEA decreases the load shedding Effective from 5th may 2013,22nd Baisakh 2070


As the mercury has been rising NEA has decreased the load shedding hours by 2 hrs a Day to limit the load shedding up to 8 hours a Day.  Load Shedding in Nepal is chronic problem and it decreases during the rainy season. NEA was able to decrease load shedding as the Kulekhani Transformer has been repaired and the Run A over Project of Nepal are able to produce more electricity than in winter season. New Load Shedding Schedule effective from May 5 2013

New Load- Shedding Schedule Effective from March 11 ( Falgun 28 2069)


Nepal Electricity Authority has announced the new load-shedding schedule to be reduced by 2 hours per day.  Issuing a notice , NEA informed media of power cut hours to be made 10 hours from 12 hours per day. Citing the SLC examination, NEA decreased the load-shedding hours to alleviate the worst condition for students which is possible due to additional electricity from India, significant amount of water level in Kulekhani resorvoir and maintenance of Kali Gandaki A Hydro.

New Load Shedding Schedule Effective From Magh 21 2069(Feb 03 2013)

As promised by Prime Minister, NEA( Nepal Electricity Authority) has reduced the load-shedding hours from 14 hours to 12 hours a day. This comes in effect after India continued the previously halted 24 MW electricity to Nepal. New Loadshedding schedule Effective from Magh 6 2069(January19, 2013)


Nepal Electricity Authority has announced that the latest load-shedding to be 14 hours a day. This fresh power cut comes after India halted the 25 MW electricity supply to Nepal. Earlier Nepalese were living in 12 hours loadshedding per day. The new load-shedding is known to be effective from January 19, 2013 Saturday (Magh 6, 2069).
According to the new schedule, the 14 hours power cut is done in two shifts in combination of 7+7 and 8+6 hours. With this huge city supply cut, I have to save some battery power for continuous surfing.

New Load-shedding schedule effective from Dec 26 (Poush 11).

As Expected Nepal Electricity Authority has further increased the loadshedding hours from 69 hours a week to 84 hours which is exactly 12 hours per day. The new power cut schedule will be effective from Dec 26, 2012 which is Poush 11, 2069. Due to dry season, High demand and problem in a turbine of a Hydropower Plant, NEA has already been cutting the city supply for two hours more than the specified schedule (which was 10 hours before) from last week. Fearing more criticism, they had not informed public about the two hours more power cut.
Though Prime Minister had vowed to keep the loadshedding hours less than 12 hours, it is expected the power cut hours will go up to 18 hours due to the long dry season.

New Load-shedding Schedule Effective From December 8 2012 (Mangshir 23 2069)

Even the Present Government of Nepal had promised to decrease the load shedding hour in this Year t doesn't seem to be come real. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided to increase the load-shedding hours for the second time in the past 10 days. The new load-shedding regime will come into effect from December 8.

The state-monopoly on supply of electricity has hiked the load-shedding hours by 14 hours to make it 70 hours a week from the existing 56 hours. This means that consumers will now have to face 10 hours of daily power cuts from Saturday.

NEA has said reduction of water level and flow in the rivers with the onset of winter has severely depleted its capacity to generate more electricity and made it mandatory to increase load-shedding.

Load-shedding will take place on the given time inside the Kathmandu Valley and 5 minutes after the given time outside the Valley.


Depending upon the condition, load-shedding could increase/decrease by one hour.

NEA has again decrease loadshedding New load Shedding Schedule Effective from 27 february 2012; 15 Falgun 2068.


Good News for Nepalese as Nepal electricity authority had reduced time of load shedding by one hour again. According to NEA the reduction in load shedding is due to the reserve water in Kulekhani and there capacity to control leakage. Though load shedding has been reduced but the common can’t feel the reduction in load shedding is only in early morning when most of the people remain sleeping.
