Miss World 2013: Miss Philippines Megan Young is Miss World 2013

Miss Philippines Megan Young bagged the prestigious title of Miss World 2013 which was held in Indonesia this year. The first and second runners up are- Miss France Marine Lorphelin and Miss Ghana Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter.

It was a loss for India yet again as India's candidate Navneet Kaur Dhillon could not even make it to the Top 10 list.Amid massive protests from Islamic hardliners and repeated threats of terror attack, one of the largest beauty pageants Miss World 2013 was held in Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Indonesia with great pomp and dazzle.

 129 contestants from all over the world vied for the crown, marking the biggest turnout in the pageant's history.Yu Wenxia of China PR crowned her successor at the end of this event. Indonesia is hosting the event for the first time.

The beauty contest was presented by Myleene Klass, former Mr. World Kamal Ibrahim, Daniel Mananta, with Jennifer Reoch, reigning Mr. World Francisco Escobar and the Philippines' first princess, Gwendoline Ruais.

The result of Top Ten was as follows:

10th place Ghana, 9th place Jamaica, 8th place Spain, 7th place Indonesia, 6th place England, 5th place Nepal, 4th place France, 3rd place Australia, 2nd place Brazil, 1st place Philippines.

Canadian Singer Justin Bieber to be Banned in Phillipines

A call has been made for Canadian singer Justin Bieber to be declared "persona non grata" in the Philippines for allegedly mocking People's Champ Manny Pacquiao in his Instagram account.
Yacap party-list Rep. Carol Jane Lopez is urging Congress to officially ban the Canadian singer from ever setting foot in the country after he posted allegedly insulting photos of Pacquiao on the Internet.Lopez also urged the Filipino youth to stop listening to Bieber's songs and to stop going to his concerts. Bieber last held a concert at the SM Mall of Asia on May 2011.

The party-list lawmaker said the series of photos from Bieber about Pacquiao were hurtful to all Filipinos who admire the boxing champ. The photos showed Pacquiao's prostrate figure alongside personalities such as Michael Jackson and Simba, the cartoon lion from The Lion King.Lopez said Bieber's photos were a personal affront since the Canadian singer is a known supporter of Pacquiao's rival for the pound-for-pound crown, American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Bieber earlier said Mayweather has nothing to gain from fighting Pacquiao after the Filipino champ lost his last 2 fights.He later said he does not believe that loyal fans will abandon him for his boxing opinions.

Mayweather earlier urged Pacquiao to bounce back from his defeat to Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, said he will pray for Bieber.

Linday Lohan to visit the Philippines?

Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan is going to visit the Philippines, according to a report from ABS-CBN News.

 A local clothing brand is reportedly making arrangements to bring the controversial singer/actress in the country. She is said to be appearing in a Manila fashion show where "Pinoy Big Brother" ex-housemate Ivan Dorschner will be joining her.

Lohan has appeared in several Metro Manila billboards for Jag Jeans.

Other Hollywood stars have also visited the country to endorse our local clothing brands. Lucy Hale, Ed Westwick, Michael Trevino, Bruno Mars, and David Archuleta have recently appeared on TV ads andbillboards. Even Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer has endorsed a clothingline and attended the Philippine Fashion Week.


Lohan starred in the movies "Mean Girls", "Freaky Friday", and "Herbie" before she did her rehabilitation and legal engagements.
